The discovery of a new strain of the COVID-19 virus in the UK has led to quick reactions worldwide. Given that this strain is significantly more infectious, many countries have put restrictions on air travel from the United Kingdom. Germany, for example, has prohibited all passenger flights coming from the UK.
However, the restrictions that have been put in place only affect passenger flights while cargo flights remain possible. Air cargo will be of increased importance in the coming weeks: Since the big airliners are not allowed to carry freight in their large cargo holds without transporting passengers, there will be a higher demand in private air cargo transports. The Channel Tunnel has also been affected, so that not all the travel routes are available: Trains to Amsterdam, Brussels, and Lille are not operating right now. Thus, an air cargo charter is the quickest and easiest way to transport freight.
