Description

The French-Italian joint venture Avions de transport régional/Aerei da Trasporto regionale is responsible for the production of the ATR 42-500. The number 42 in the aircraft name stands for the number of seats available to passengers in the standard cabin configuration. The turboprop engines enable take-offs and landings even at small regional airports, so the ATR 42-500 is often used on feeder flights. When a turboprop aircraft with a larger passenger capacity is required, ATR offers the 72-500 as the 'big sister' of the 42-500.

Highlights

  • Can take off and land even on very short runways
  • Economical travel through high fuel efficiency
  • Large luggage compartment
  • Extremely reliable

Comfort

For larger groups who do not need their own jumbo jet, the ATR 42-500 is a reliable, economical alternative for short distances. The cabin provides passengers with a comfortable amount of headroom, while the large cargo hold also has sufficient space for bulky baggage. The ability of the ATR 42-500 to take off and land on short runways opens up possibilities for more unusual routes away from major international airports.
